Cobie Smulders oozed confidence as she walked the red carpet while attending Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion launch event at El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
The Jack Reacher: Never Go Back star looked lovely in a $4990 Oscar de la Renta floral lace strapless dress with open-toed heels.
She was joined by her husband, Saturday Night Live alum Taran Killam, who looked handsome in a blue suit coat with a well-groomed beard and short spiked hair.
Secret Invasion continues the storyline introduced in the 2019 film Captain Marvel, in which special agents for the fictional United States government agency S.H.I.E.L.D. protect the world from extraterrestrial threats.

In the new Marvel Studios blockbuster, Cobie plays the role of Commander Maria Hill, a highly trained weapons expert, and hand-to-hand combat fighter who tries to save Earth from an invasion of shapeshifting aliens known as Skrulls.
Commander Hill tries to maintain order by calling on Samuel L. Jackson’s character Nick Fury as the threat becomes imminent.
The Skrulls are becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of progress in finding a new home for their displaced population.
While speaking with Vanity Fair in March, Jackson described the Skrulls as innocent victims of a galactic war who needed help.
Jackson explained that his character Fury was ‘trying to find them a place to live.’ Adding, ‘He promised them they were going to find them (The Skrulls) a planet or somewhere they could be. And that’s not going so well.’
Fury turns to a Skrull named Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), who worked alongside humans to protect Earth in the 2019 film Captain Marvel and impersonated Fury at his request in Spider-Man: Far From Home, also released in 2019.
When Fury returns to Earth, he loses whatever powers he had. During a literal game of Chess between Commander Hill and Fury, she warns him of the grave dangers they face.
‘You’re not ready for this Fury. There’s a very real threat out there,’ she says.
Adding, ‘You always told me there was no shame in walking away when the steps are uncertain. So, check your footing; otherwise, someone’s going to get hurt.’

The cast boasts an impressive roster of A-listers, including, Academy-Award winner Olivia Colman, Don Cheadle, Emilia Clarke, Martin Freeman, and Christopher McDonald.
The action-packed trailer begins with Fury speaking to Don Cheadle’s War Machine character, Colonel James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes, saying, ‘An invasion is here, Rhodey, and we can’t even tell who the invaders are.’
The scene then depicts multiple shapeshifters who possess other-worldly powers to change their appearance into anyone nearby.
Academy Award-winning actress Olivia Colman’s MI6 agent character Sonya Falsworth – who aims to thwart the Skrull invasion – is seen wearing a red robe warning ‘This is a ticking time-bomb,’ before Talos screams in a fit of rage.
Given her impressive acting credentials, it is evident that she will play a crucial role in the series.

Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke plays G’iah, the daughter of the Skrull general Talos, who also appeared in Captain Marvel.
Jackson’s character Fury is seen without his usual eyepatch, exposing three large scars above and below a damaged blue cornea.
The series – which will consist of six episodes – will be available for streaming on Disney+ starting June 21st.
Kyle Bradstreet, the writer and producer of the critically acclaimed series Mr. Robot, is leading the project.
